Nice tutorial..but in what situations would i need to render shadows seperately?…i didnt get that

      thanks for the question :)

if you render everything by its own on a different pass, then you will have complete control at the end to play wit hthe reflections, shadows, colors, etc…

so if you dont like 1 thing u dont need to go back and keep re-rendering and waste more thime, this way you can control each thing on its own…

the way they render 3d animated cartoons is the same way i think :)

good idea… i see what you mean about wasting time and re-rendering. i’m not sure how this could be done with other programs, but generally speaking, it is a good idea.

    thanks hussain!

Hi! Thanks for the nice tutorial!

    I got one problem though…

Everything is fine and works like you showed in this tut, but when i get to the part where i need to convert the shadows alfa channel into a layer in PS.
Thing is that my shadows don’t have transparent background after i copy it. I get black shadows AND the white background with it. Unlike you, where you get only the shadows.

I hope you understand my problem and have time to help me :)

    BTW: I’m using Photoshop CS2.

    Htz.
