Video Tutorial 1: Creating a Vent Layout using Opacity Maps
Hi everyone, Hope you enjoy our very first video tutorial about making a vent layout using 3D Studio Max and Photoshop. We used this vent layout in our latest “New Breed” logo.
We’re planning on having a new tutorial every Thursday so be sure to check back next week for our next tutorial
. We’ll try to rotate it so that it would be a design tutorial in 1 week and a development 1 in another.
Feel free to post all your questions on our blog.
See ya next week…

Great tutorial!! ThankS!
Thanks
nice tutorial, i am trying it out.. but if you have a sphere and place a light within it im wondering how to get reflections of the light through the shape? isit possible?
thanks.
yes its possible, here’s an example using an omni light, I placed it in the middle of the sphere, and mark the shadows as ON… since im using vray, i chose the VRayShadow, and that should do it and detect ur shapes on ur opacity map…
here’s the outcomes-
Only using Omni Light:

Original lighting with 2 vray lights on the side and an omni light in the sphere:
